As a communications professional, entrepreneur, and business leader, Jeff Trexel has always been drawn to the power that exists in quality information. Over the past 10 years, Mr. Trexel has been actively engaged with leaders in Fortune 500 board rooms and the halls of Capitol Hill to understand and meet their greatest needs for organization and delivery of information. Mr. Trexel founded Infoition News Services in 2003, and in 2013 facilitated the creation of Synoptos Inc. by combining Infoition with OhMyGov, Inc. The inspiration for Infoition came to Jeff during his time as he watched world leaders struggle to keep up on relevant news when serving as the communications director and chief spokesman for a United States Representative. Prior to serving on Capitol Hill, Jeff worked as a corporate communications manager and the public affairs and corporate practice groups of a global public relations firm. He is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, with a degree in journalism.
Andrew B. Einhorn, M.S., is a systems engineer and management consultant specializing in information architecture, management, public health, and new media communications. With 14 years of experience working for global management consulting firms such as ICF and John Snow Inc, Mr. Einhorn has provided technical assistance, project management, decision support, financial analysis, communications support, and systems design for a wide variety of public and private sector clients, including the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA), Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), Missile Defense Agency, Santee Cooper power company, and the American Chemistry Council.
As an adjunct faculty member at Georgetown University, Mr. Einhorn’s research interests included the application of new and social media to health communications and government, media monitoring and analysis, social network analysis, situational awareness, digital applications for public health, and health information technology. Mr. Einhorn is a published author and journalist, and has spoken about his varying experiences on international cable news networks, syndicated radio shows, and at academic conferences. He holds a B.A. in Neuropsychology from Emory University and an M.S. in Engineering Management from The George Washington University.
James Hurla is an experienced manager responsible for overseeing all aspects of Synoptos’ operations. Mr. Hurla has spent more than 10 years identifying best practices and integrating process improvement to Synoptos’ professional-services arm. He has been chiefly responsible for talent acquisition and development, facilitating the organization’s growth from a group of three individuals to a nationwide network of more than 40 researchers and analysts. Prior to assuming his current role with the organization, Mr. Hurla spent more than five years with direct responsibility for developing customer deliveries, including White House and congressional offices, as well as Fortune 500 clients across the Defense, Aerospace, IT, Financial Services, and Energy sectors. He graduated from Kansas State University with degrees in public relations and print journalism.

Mark Malseed is an investigative journalist and information architect with 15+ years of experience writing and designing influential publications, technologies and experiences. He is coauthor of the national bestseller The Google Story, published in 25 languages worldwide, and the former lead researcher for Bob Woodward of The Washington Post, with whom he collaborated on two critically acclaimed #1 bestsellers, Plan of Attack and Bush at War. As a consultant to ChaCha, Mr. Malseed has worked with major cities and federal agencies on the design of innovative mobile information services. He led the rapid-response team for NYC 311′s texting service during Hurricane Sandy, and created a search training program used by more than 60,000 researchers. A cofounder of OhMyGov, Mr. Malseed now leads product design and development at Synoptos. He is a frequent speaker at universities and organizations in the U.S. and abroad, and has appeared on numerous TV & radio programs. He graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Lehigh University with a degree in architecture and urban studies.
Vice President, Engineering
Enrique Orozco is a software engineer experienced in computational analysis, database architecture and data mining. Mr. Orozco previously led the Database and Software Engineering Department for the Biomedical Informatics Division at the Beckman Research Institute in Duarte, Calif. His prior experience also included design of wireless components at Hewlett-Packard and database architecture Genentech, NextOffice, Hikari Tsushin (in Tokyo), and Lucas Arts. His research and development work focuses on data mining methodologies for unstructured data and image analysis utilizing object relational systems.
Josh Witt is an experienced public relations specialist within the industry, having consultative relationships with multiple Fortune 50 clients. At Synoptos, Mr. Witt leads the development and integrated production processes for measurement and analysis and influencer tracking services, including the implementation of standards for analytical writing and editing that work to meet and exceed the Barcelona Principles of measurement established by the Institute for Public Relations. He graduated from Kansas State University with a degree in print journalism.
Mrs. Santiago has over five years of experience managing media analysts and working with clients in the Energy, Health and Government, Defense and Financial industries. In addition to the oversight of all daily production, she has spent years cultivating relationships with public-sector clients, including the House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology, Office of Science and Technology Policy, Senate Appropriations Committee and the House Committee on Homeland Security. At Synoptos, Mrs. Santiago has led the training of all incoming researchers and analysts, and organized staffing resources to build teams of industry experts for each valued client. She graduated from Emporia State University with degrees in English and journalism.
Richard T. Hartman, Ph.D., is a former career member of the federal Senior Executive Service (SES) and formerly the Director of Policy Analysis and Forecasting Services for the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) in the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), where he exercised a major leadership role for planning, developing, executing and promoting VA policy. He was also responsible for forecasting the $40 billion budget of VHA, the nation’s largest integrated health care system, and overseeing dozens of health and health technology pilots.
Dr. Hartman has 22 years of experience in the federal government, first as an active duty officer in the United States Air Force and later in executive positions at three different cabinet level Departments. He is currently a Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Air Force Reserves. Dr. Hartman holds a Ph.D. in public health, a Master’s Degree in policy and management, and a Bachelor’s Degree in physics. He has held both Associate and Assistant adjunct professor appointments, at George Washington University and Georgetown University, respectively.
Dr. Lisa Singh
Lisa Singh, Ph.D., is Director of Undergraduate Studies in Computer Science at Georgetown University and an expert in the fields of database systems, data mining, social networks, data reduction of large graph data sets, and data visualization. Dr. Singh has worked on numerous data mining research projects, including ones with IBM, Hewlett-Packard, and the mass data storage and delivery system at NASA. Current projects include graph mining, privacy preserving data mining, and visual mining/analytics of heterogeneous networks. Dr. Singh serves on organizing and program committees of major database and data mining conferences and is a member of the ACM SIGMOD Executive Committee.
